Title: | Implementing virtual activities in CLIL classes: a response to the Learning and Teaching Efficiently (LTE) European Project |
Authors: | Teresa Morell |
Abstract: |
In this paper we will focus on the use of virtual activities to enhance
both the learning of content and language in a History and Culture
course for university students with a B2 level of English, according to
the European Framework. The design of the course and the instruments
used were implemented as a part of the European Comenius 3 Project:
Learning and Teaching Efficiently (LTE). In this project, teachers at
the diferent levels of education and other educational staff of 16
European countries have joined to find ways of being innovative and to
determine what can be considered "good practice" in teaching English as
a foreign language through the use of ICT. The particular study to be presented involves the collaboration of two institutions in order to promote the use of several ICT based activities through a Virtual Campus. Among the activities used were: on-line debates, the use of Freemind software to create mind maps to be shared, and the use of on-line databases to carry out collaborative research. At the presentation of this on-going investigation, the ICT activities will be shown and the effects of their use on the students'learning of the content and language will be demonstrated. |
